Blinded by the remarkable narratives of our biblical heroes, we can forget they each had a backstory—months and years of development, even difficulty, which fortified their spiritual muscle and prepared them for the tasks that made their lives unforgettable.

Pack A Shoebox!

We are so excited to be a part of Operation Christmas Child! FBCJ will be collecting your boxes on November 15th - 22nd.

“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.

Operation Christmas Child gift-filled shoeboxes go to some of the most difficult to reach places on earth. That includes areas that are hostile to the Gospel, places where whole people groups are yet unreached, and hundreds of remote Pacific islands. Did you know that every box that is packed through Build a Shoebox Online goes to a hard-to-access region? Shoeboxes are used by local churches to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in all kinds of environments, from densely populated inner cities to deserts and jungles—even in places where the Name of Jesus has never been heard.

Fair Parade

The Jeff Davis Parish Fair Parade will be on Friday, October 8th, at 9am on Main Street. We will have multiple floats this year, including a Pumpkin Patch float and TrailLife floats. We hope you join us!

TrailLife:

  • Any trailman riding, rsvp by October 1st.
  • Please wear your TraiLife official uniform shirt. The troop tee may be worn.
  • A permission slip must be signed prior to parade.

If you or your children are riding, please be at the FBCJ parking lot at 8am.

Pumpkin Patch

The Pumpkins Are Coming!

We are beyond excited to bring the Pumpkin Patch to Jennings. Please join us for Family Day on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 10am til dusk. Along with the pumpkins, there will be food, games, story telling, hay rides, fun jumps and more!

Our pumpkins range in price from just under $1 to around $55 for the largest you will see in the patch. Our patch team will be happy to help you find the pumpkin or pumpkins that will be just right for you and your family. For your convenience, we accept cash, check and credit card. Donations will be accepted also.

YEC – 2021

The Youth Evangelism Celebration (YEC) is an evangelistic and equipping event designed to lead students to Christ and challenge believers to greater accomplishments in Christ. Complete with high energy, inspirational speakers; top Christian vocalists and musicians; life-changing student testimonies; and sensational multi-media presentations, this event will erupt with the powerful message of salvation, and the dynamic journey of discipleship. The Youth Evangelism Celebration is the greatest place, the greatest “front door”, for bringing lost students and growing believers!

Please arrive at FBCJ at 2pm on the 21st. We will depart at 2:30. We will get back to Jennings late on the 22nd.

Please bring: overnight bag, Bible, a good attitude

Georgia Barnette

Behind the Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering

Following God’s plan for her life led Georgia Barnette to New Orleans, Louisiana. It was October of 1901 when she arrived at First Baptist Church in New Orleans to do missionary work. She immediately fell in love with the city, its history, its diversity and its needs. Her work as “church visitor” soon included some work with the women as well.

Contact with the recently organized Woman’s Missionary Union of Louisiana opened her eyes to the needs for Christ and for mission endeavors throughout the state. She was elected to be the first full-time, paid executive director/treasurer of WMU in Louisiana. In this role she engaged women in churches with God’s mission that people might come to know the Savior.

Telling the stories of God at work from south Louisiana to north, from east to west, was important to Miss Georgia. Hundreds of hand-written letters to churches and women’s groups effectively led Louisiana Baptists to pray fervently for state missions. She challenged them to give to state missions. She encouraged their personal involvement. The spirit of giving that she inspired planted a groundwork for the Week of Prayer for State Missions and what is now the Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering. Her example is a model for prayer and giving today.
