Pumpkin Season is Almost Here!

Join us this fall for the Annual Pumpkin Patch! We are beyond excited to bring the Patch to Jennings again and we are looking forward to spending the day with you!

Bring the entire family for Family Day on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The gates will open at 10am and close at 6pm. Along with the pumpkins, there will be food, games, face painting, petting zoo, story telling, train rides, fun jumps and more!

Our pumpkins range in price from just under $1 to around $55 for the largest you will see in the patch. Our patch team will be happy to help you find the pumpkin or pumpkins that will be just right for you and your family. For your convenience, we accept cash, check and credit card. Donations will also be accepted.

The Gospel of John Bible Study

Ladies, join us for this 7 session Bible Study! It will begin on Tuesday, August 27th in the Foundations Room, at 9am.

Life. It seems to move at a break-neck pace. Days are filled with noise, screens, and appointments. Sometimes worry and fear are constant companions. The chaos can leave you looking for a place to be still, but that resting spot always seems to be an elusive destination. Jesus offers a different kind of life. He offers peace. He is peace.

In this 7-session study on the Gospel of John, Melissa Spoelstra will encourage you to slow down and linger with the living Word. You’ll appreciate the pace of the Savior who never hurried but completed all that the Father called Him to accomplish. As you turn the pages of John’s Gospel, you’ll be challenged to take on the posture of a learner—understanding that the peace Jesus offers is not an ease of circumstances, but a stillness of the soul. As a result, you’ll grow in intimacy with Him and learn to live, serve, and rest in His peace.

First Place | New Session

Orientation for the next First Place session will be held May 13th at 6pm.  Come and be introduced to the Christ-centered weight loss and healthy living program!
The cost for new members is $90 which pays for the member’s kit and Bible study.  This session’s Bible study will be ‘A Better Way’.  Our world is full of contradictions.  We have amazing technology that can make our lives easier, yet we are more stressed and busier than previous generations.  We live in a country with great wealth and resources, yet poverty and homelessness are constant.  Outer beauty is valued more than inner beauty.  And even though we know more about healthy living and have more resources to make healthy choices than ever before, overweight and obesity rates continue to rise.  There is A BETTER WAY and that way is JESUS.

Returning members’ cost is $20.

Get ready to be “egged” in the most egg-citing way! R.E.A.C.T of First Baptist Church in Jennings is spreading Easter joy by decorating yards on Easter’s Eve.

Picture this: Resurrection morning dawns, and your family’s yard is transformed into a colorful wonderland, covered with plastic eggs filled with all sorts of candies!

Dry Creek Summer Camp

This camp offers a chance for boys and girls in grades 1–6 to be impacted by godly men & women through traditional camp activities and time in God’s word. The boys will be taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ while spending their days swimming, doing archery, riflery, and other recreation.  Girls will participate in fun camp activities include crafts, canoeing, and other rec, while re-focusing on God and His mission through worship services.

Cost:
The cost for each camper to go to camp is $235. We will fundraise for camp but donations to fbcKids can always be made! We will ask each camper to pay a $50 deposit. Cash/checks can be brought to the church office.

What is the dress code?
Our goal and prayer is for God to be glorified in all areas of our ministry and for clothing not to become a distraction. We ask all campers to dress in a way to be a Christ-like example to others.

With this in mind, the following are examples of unacceptable attire: headwear during worship services, shorts shorter than mid-thigh, shorts/pants with writing on the rear, sleeveless shirts/tank tops/spaghetti straps/crop tops, sleepwear outside the dorm rooms, swimwear in the Dining Hall, leggings/yoga pants, inappropriate artwork, etc. Skirts and dresses should be no shorter than just above the knee. What should I bring?
Bring an expectant heart, a listening ear, and a positive attitude. Also bring your Bible, pillow, linens/blankets, towels, casual clothes, tennis shoes, toiletries, swim wear, flip flops/swim shoes. Please label EVERYTHING, even your Bible!

What should I leave at home?
Please leave all cell phones and music-playing devices at home. These items often cause distractions during worship or are lost during camp. Fireworks, firearms, knives, paint ball guns, water guns, shaving cream, skates and skateboards, tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, and non-prescription drugs are never permitted.

What about spending money?
The Snack Shack and the Camp Store will be open for campers! Pre-paid cards may be purchased for children’s camps. In addition, a love offering will be taken for various projects.

What should I do with my medications?
All medications (prescription and non-prescription) must be checked in with the camp nurse during registration. We stock common OTC medications, so there is no need to send these. Prescription medications must be in a pharmacy-labeled bottle that includes the child’s name and dosage. Please only send what is needed for camp, and remind your child to pick up the medication at first aid when camp ends!

Ladies Bible Study – Sermon on the Mount

In His sweeping depiction of kingdom citizenship, Jesus utters some of the most familiar passages in all of Scripture. Most of us have only encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivisions as complete teachings in their own right—a study on blessedness; a reflection on the Lord’s Prayer; a discussion of religious devotion, money, ambition, and relationships.

What if we navigated these three chapters in Matthew as they were originally heard? What if we read them as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus?

This 9-session study will give you the opportunity to do just that. Come and learn from Jesus, just as His disciples did.
