 v.1  Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

v.4  And you, fathers do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Live your life in such a way that you are worth obeying

Loving God, Jesus and the pursuit of a growing relationship
Loving life
Loving your wife (see Ephesians 5)
Loving and enjoying your children

Because “Obedience” is a way of life

School, work, relationships
In our relationship with god
(get used to it)

Live practicing self control

Bring them up in the

Training
Admonition
Of the Lord
