VBS 2024

Every day is an adventure at Breaker Rock Beach, from the morning waves crashing against the shore to evenings filled with bonfires and s’mores! Race along the sand with your brightly colored kite, join friends to make the most amazing sandcastle, or gaze in wonder at the mysteries found in a glimmering tide pool. As the crowds come and go and the tides ebb and flow, Breaker Rock rises majestically as a symbol of strength, standing firm against the force of wind and waves.

At Breaker Rock Beach, kids will learn to recognize the difference between what the world says is true and what God says is true. They’ll encounter five everyday sayings that sound right, but dangerously miss the truth found in God’s Word. Each day kids will be challenged to know that God’s truth never changes—even when it’s radically different from what some people say. They’ll discover that God does not want them to be conformed to this age, but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds so that they can discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).

The Darkness and The Light

Have you ever been in a place that’s really and truly dark? A place with absolutely zero sources of light? It’s a little unsettling, isn’t it? We lose context. We become disoriented. And if we’re honest, sometimes we get scared.

There is another kind of darkness that surrounds us. It’s not the absence of light. It’s the absence of good. There is a darkness we encounter all the time in our world. The darkness of depression. The darkness of addiction. The darkness of hopelessness. The darkness of violence. The darkness of oppression. The darkness of lostness.

It’s the darkness of a world without good. A world without God. There is darkness.

But there is a light, too. And not just any light. It’s a light that is overwhelming, all-consuming, and perfectly pure . . . a light that refuses to be ignored.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:5

There is a light that drives away darkness. A light that drives out fear. A light that runs off despair. A light that shines for justice. A light that is comforting, and clarifying . . . A light that saves.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

JOIN US AT GENERATE 2021 as we discover how the light, the ONE TRUE LIGHT, drives out the darkness . . . in the world, and in us.

Day 1 – Let There Be Light: The God Who Creates

Day 2 – The Light Came into the World: The God Who Cares

Day 3 – You Are the Light: The God Who Calls

Day 4 – Light the Darkness: The God Who Commands

A Place Called Heaven

A Place Called Heaven

Kurt and Tina Goebel started a new study on Sunday, June 2.  All are invited to join the class for this 6 week study: A Place Called Heaven by Robert Jeffers.  Books are $6.50.

If any of us learned we were going to move to a foreign country, we’d do everything we could to learn about that place so that we’d be prepared when moving day arrived.  As Christians, we know someday we will leave our familiar country and be united with God in heaven.  And yet many of us know very little about this place called heaven.  In this Bible study, explore several surprising truths about heaven and reveal whom we see there and what we will do.  This study will give believers a clearer picture of the divine place Jesus has prepared for us.  And it will encourage us to make heaven a greater priority in our hearts and minds so that we are better prepared for it.

DNOW FACTS

Be The Church

This summer, our staff has challenged the church to break the mold.  Instead of coming to church, it’s time to “Be the Church”.  All summer long, each member of the staff is delivering a different approach to meeting together as believers.  As we follow the first church from the book of Acts, we are practicing different aspects of what the earliest believers did.  Our key focus is to remain as true to Scripture as possible, while continuing to shine the light of Jesus Christ to our community.

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers. 43 Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need.[a] 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them[b] those who were being saved.

The summertime schedule for Sunday evenings is as follows:

June 18: Prayer Walk – Eric Sonnier
June 25: Worship Band/Discipleship – Derrick Laughlin
July 2: Backyard BBQ/Waterslide – Brian Wells
July 9/16: Off (Bounce Team here)
July 23: Game Night Fellowship – Cassandra Garbarino
July 30: Worship in the Park (I-10 Park) – Sean Bean
August 6: Ice Cream Social – Jeff Cook

Vacation Bible School 2017

Join us this year for Vacation Bible School 2017.  This year, the VBS theme is Galactic Starveyors.  As kids focus their telescopes on the marvels painted in the sky by the Creator, they will discover the wonder of all wonders – the God who created everything there is – the knowable and unknowable, the visible and the invisible – wants a personal relationship with them.  We want to invite your kids to join us as we show them that God is over the moon in love with them.

VBS Motto: Searching the visible, discovering the invisible
