Dr. Jeff leads through innovation and serves from his heart. As senior pastor, Jeff oversees all the ministers and the church body. Jeff began his work here in Jennings as Pastor in April of 2014. Since his time guiding our church, he has implemented new events, programs, and goals for the church. Following the Holy Spirit, Jeff continues to lead and guide the Church by empowering loving and friendly fellowship, challenging the church to leave the walls and spread the Word, and encouraging missions and outreach.
Dr. Jeff is married to Jo Lynn and they have 4 children. Dr. Jeff is called as a bivocational pastor. His hearts longs for missions, and it is evident in his work. Jeff serves as the Compassion Strategist for the Louisiana Baptist Convention where he is able to guide and lead mission projects throughout our state. Jeff and his wife Jo also founded the ServNLove Home in India which adopts, trains, educates, and empowers young girls and their families to a life in Christ.
Jeff’s initials are JC and to remind himself, and others, that he is not “THE” JC – Jesus Christ, Jeff often writes and sign his name as Dr. jeff Cook.
Brian leads with compassion as he serves the Senior Adults and oversees education for the church. The education duties include preparing and overseeing Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Connect Groups, and many others. Brian also serves as the Church Administrator, ensuring the day-to-day operations and needs of the church are being met. In this role, Brian heads the First Baptist School and Mother’s Day Out programs. Brian has been serving the church for over 19 years and is a vital link to the history and personality of the church.
Brian is married to Joni and they have 2 boys. Brian’s desire is to serve senior adults along with the church in any way possible. Brian oversees several ministries and ensures things run smoothly by taking care of details that may sometimes be easily overlooked. Brian earned his first master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and his second master’s degree in Religious Education. Brian previously served in ministry at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
Brian is well known throughout the community for having a servant’s heart.

Kimberly Rider, Secretary
Kimberly works each day as the full-time secretary . Her duties include clerical/receptionist work, financial management, and school secretary. Kimberly works enthusiastically to serve the needs of the church. As a critical asset to our church, Kimberly helps maintains much of the day-to-day operations that happen after the doors close on Sunday evenings.
Kimberly joined the staff of the church in April 2012. Kimberly enjoys visiting with others as they frequent the office. Kimberly has earned her Bachelors of Science from McNeese State University in 2007.
Nancy Walters, Church Clerk
Nancy works as the part-time secretary and Church Clerk. She has the authority to sign legal documents and maintains all the minutes from church business meetings. Nancy also maintains the church history and media. Bulletins and newsletters are the handy work of Nancy.
Nancy joined the church staff in 2007 after her retirement from nursing. She moved to Jennings from Michigan working as a registered nurse prior to her retirement. Nancy has two children and a host of grandchildren.
Derrick Laughlin, Student Ministry Leader
Derrick works as the part-time as our student ministry leader. He teaches and leads the student ministry, along-side other adults leaders, to help students grow into fully-devoted followers of Christ. His mission is to see students become disciples that make disciples who make disciples. While teaching students how to navigate one of the hardest points in their lives, he also helps remind them to have fun, embrace relationships, and focus on God as they live.
Derrick is married to Sarah Beth and has 4 children. He is bi-vocational, working full-time as a Registered Nurse. Derrick also volunteers on the media team, helping as a audio/visual technician on Sundays and many other times during the week. He also oversees website maintenance and training.
